Germany, the winners of the 2014 FIFA World Cup will be keen to get their hands on the golden trophy once again. They certainly have the squad to do so. The team is dominant on the pitch. I see that it is the German attitude that makes them attacking and aggressive on the pitch. The German players play freely and aren’t afraid to lose. This is one thing that works in their favor. Also, their fitness levels are elite. So, who will be the key players for Germany? Will they win the cup this time around? Here is an in-depth look:

Germany Football Team Expected Squad:

  1. Thomas Muller (Forward)
  1. Kai Havertz (Forward/Midfielder)

  1. Mat Hummels (Defender)
  1. Robin Gosens (Defender)
  1. Manuel Neuer (Goalkeeper)

  1. Kevin Trapp (Goalkeeper)

Germany Football Team Strengths:

The strength of the German Team is the presence of experienced strikers. Leroy Sane and Thomas Muller have a world of experience. Both of these players have seen and played top-level football. At global stage events, it is only experience that comes in handy. Some of the exciting talents that the world awaits include Kai Havertz and Timo Werner.

Weakness of the Germany National Football team:

The defense is not looking elite as earlier. The team earlier had one of the best defensive units. Antonio Rudiger is one big name involved but he will have to take a lot of burden. Mats Hummels also isn’t at the prime of his career. On his day he can win you a game but the rest of the days look concerning. With the German team being aggressive, they need to have a strong back 4 who can deal effectively with counter attacks.

Opportunities for the German national Team:

The opportunities are for younger players to show what they have in store. Also, an opportunity is waiting for Thomas Muller. Muller is at the far end of his career as claimed by many pundits. But this can be his chance to prove that he still has the fire left in him. He currently might not be in the peak of form but like Hummels, he can win the German team, games single-handedly.

Threats for the German Football Team:

The midfield can be a “Too many cooks spoil the broth” situation. We have earlier seen France struggling because they had multiple strong personalities in the field. Similarly, Germany has many strong players in the mid-field. Kai Havertz is the rising star, Ikay is the proven magician, Reus is bliss on his day, and they still have Joshua Kimmich!
